New exhibit in Saint-Armand, Que., challenges history of local Black community (from CBC news)

Uncovered records appear to contradict narratives about enslaved Blacks, historic burial site

The findings are displayed on three bilingual panels at a recently inaugurated outdoor exhibit in Saint-Armand, Que. They include the history of slavery in Lower Canada, glimpses into the lives of some of the apparently free Black people living in the community as well as the story of the Underground Railroad and the abolition of slavery in New England.
